"Encore!" provides SCP season last hurrah

The South Carolina Philharmonic concert season is over, but a festive “Encore!” awaits at the S.C. State Museum Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. during the orchestra’s annual spring gala.

Honorary chairs Marina Lomazov & Joe Rackers join Music Director Morihiko Nakahara and event chair Lynn Hodge in inviting the Midlands to “Encore!” – the SCP’s annual spring gala.

The S.C. State Museum (301 Gervais Street, Columbia) serves as the perfect setting to celebrate both the 2010/2011 SCP season and South Carolina’s unique culture, providing three levels of all-inclusive, Southern-inspired fare and festivities. Dance to the music of Dick Goodwin and enjoy other musical entertainment from SCP and SCP Youth Orchestra chamber ensembles and enjoy VIP museum tours, a silent auction and complimentary valet parking from Southern Valet.

Guests may place bids in the “Encore!” silent auction, which features uncommon items and experiences from around the world like a one-week stay at a private home in Nyons, France. Golf packages, a grand State Museum membership package, a cooking class for 30 with Maestro Nakahara from Columbia’s Let’s Cook and other interesting packages are available.

Southern Way plans to tempt guests with Southern-inspired fare like a shrimp and grits bar, sweet potato biscuits, black-eyed pea salsa, a beef carving station and an array of desserts. A full bar is available, featuring quintessentially Southern mint juleps and the S.C. Lowcountry’s own Firefly Sweet Tea vodka.

All-inclusive tickets to “Encore!” are $100 per person. “Encore!” is black-tie optional. To reserve admission or get sponsorship information, call SCP Audience Services at 803.254.PHIL.
