South Carolina Philharmonic

Musicians need food, clothing, shelter and a safe place to play. By adopting a musician, schools can help keep these musicians off the street!

The S.C. Phil's Adopt-a-Musician program brings South Carolina’s finest musicians into schools in order to talk about their musical lives, engage in musical discussions, share a live performance, and collaborate with teachers and students.

Adopted musicians visit their school throughout the year to increase the appreciation and love of classical music in the lives of young people. Faculty, staff, students and parents receive discounted tickets to S.C. Phil Masterworks Series performances.

Class visits may also be accompanied by a visit to a Philharmonic Masterworks rehearsal. Prior to the rehearsal, a back stage tour is arranged and during the rehearsal break, the musicians and school community share refreshments and conversation.
